that is painting with a very broad brush, but it's something that encourages us to take action. i think in my prosecutors office there is hard and soft power. the hard power in a prosecutor's office, in a police department, it's arresting. it's putting in jail. it's going in court and find this person guilty and punish them. that's a kind of hard power and most of what is done in a prosecutor's office -- most of the resources are devoted to those hard power tasks, but although we devote less resources to soft power there are probably more important and soft power is where you change the hearts and minds of people. where you try to change cultures, try to change the norms in the community are and certainly in our office we devote significant resources to this. just a couple of examples. we have something called the parent project, and i am very grateful in a time of really reduced funding our board of supervisors stepped up and provided funding for otherwise what was run on a shoe string out of our office, and it's a program that teaches parents to be better parents and parents g

other issues for us have to do with parking issues. we understand there's certain zoning and regulations but we think the reality is although transit first is a good thing, if we have residents moving into this area, especially many of them coming into the city from out of the area, you know, probably takes jobs in the high-tech sector, they're probably going to have cars with thel, whether or not they use them to commute on a daily basis is one thing, we're wondering where these cars will be parked. we don't have available street parking for the small businesses and the customers that are there right now, so we are concerned that there will be parking issues as a result of this construction. a lot of our clients in that area are designers, they come from all over northern california, they have to drive there so we're concerned that will put further stress on the businesses in the area and finally, pdr zoning, 1 henry adams street sets a precedent of the pdr zoning in that area, with select buildings in the area, with zinga and now the

can you tell us about your experience? >> there were a lot of anticipation about how people would respond. at first, we had to get in front of people to direct them from their habits. early morning, they are more into carrying their coffee and going inside of the elevator and then spilling their coffee to hit the keys. we got right in front of them, stopped them and told them exactly what they had to do. that helped out a lot. the other thing that helped were the lights in the lobby would tell them where the elevator was. a lot of these systems have not done that. we were the first to do that. the nice thing is we've got less spills in the lobby, too. you get into the elevator in the morning, and somebody is standing in front of the buttons and you cannot get to it. people are fighting each other, spilling coffee and stuff, so this works out well. once you get inside, you are going to the floor that you have already decided on the outside. it really helped traffic flow and security as well. >> would you say your experience
